How to ask for your account to be deleted

Option 1: from your account

Sign in to GreenHand.
Open Support from the menu and start a new request.
Use the subject Delete my account.

Option 2: by email

Email our Information Officer at privacy@greenhand.co.za with the subject Delete my account. Please send it from the email address on your GreenHand account. That helps us confirm the request is really from you.

            If you have a job in progress, money held under Payment Protection or a balance in your gardener wallet, please mention it in your request so we can settle it with you first.
        

What happens next

We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request.
We action the request within a reasonable time.
We confirm the outcome to you by email.

What we delete and what we keep

We delete or de-identify your personal information, such as your profile, contact details, addresses, photos and messages. We keep only what the law requires us to keep:

Identity-verification records (ID, proof of address and related documents): kept for 5 years from the end of the relationship or the relevant transaction, in line with South African identity-verification and record-keeping practice (FICA).
Booking, payment, payout and dispute records: kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.

When these periods end, we securely delete or de-identify the records.

Deleting some of your information

You can also ask us to delete specific information without closing your account, the same way as above. Much of your profile you can edit or remove yourself in your account settings.
